Administrative Memos
200115
FROM: Theodore O. Will, Chief Executive Officer
DATE: Jul 13, 2001
SUBJECT: PEPP Liaison Role and Responsibilities
IPRO CONTACTS:
Paula Monetti, Sr. Director, Program Integrity, (516) 326-7767, x261 and Marilyn Zumbo, Administrator, PEPP Improvement Strategies, (518) 426-3300
As you may recall, when the Payment Error Prevention Program (PEPP) was introduced with the Medicare Sixth Scope of Work in 1999, IPRO requested that each New York State Prospective Payment System (PPS) hospital designate a PEPP Liaison to serve as their contact person for all PEPP-related correspondence and activities. Since that time, we have sent the PEPP Liaisons many project reports, data and educational materials, in addition to working with them in coordinating meetings, training sessions and conferences.
During a series of conference calls earlier this year, we discussed the role of the PEPP Liaison and the formation of a PEPP Liaison Workgroup. Based on participant feedback, it became apparent that the role of the PEPP Liaison needed to be more clearly defined, as well as the level of commitment required from other key hospital staff, to enable us all to work collaboratively and successfully in our efforts to reduce payment errors.
Attached please find a document entitled " PEPP Liaison Role and Responsibilities" which was developed with input from the PEPP Liaison Workgroup. Please share this document with Hospital Administration and other key individuals/departments involved in your PEPP and compliance programs. We believe it will be useful to them in understanding the support and cooperation you need.
Should you have any questions in regard to this memorandum, please feel free to contact Paula Monetti or Marilyn Zumbo.
