The enclosed Amendment #1 to the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the Sixth Scope of Work (6th SoW) dated August 1, 1999, is being made to reflect the changes required by the Health Care Financing Administration (HCFA) to eliminate the 96-hour Critical Access Hospital reviews. This Amendment should be attached to your signed copy of the MOA.

Please refer to IPRO's Medicare Administrative Memorandum #2000-02, dated February 18, 2000, subject "Elimination of the 96-Hour Critical Access Hospital" for further information.

AMENDMENT #1 - MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT

Between IPRO and ACUTE CARE FACILITY

This Amendment to the Sixth Scope of Work (6th SoW) Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) dated August 1, 1999, is being made to reflect the changes required by the Health Care Financing Administration (HCFA).

Page 14 of the MOA is being amended as follows:

XV. CRITICAL ACCESS HOSPITALS (CAH) - SECTION C

The above section (Section C) is deleted from the MOA since HCFA has notified IPRO that Section 403 of the Balanced Budget Refinement Act of 1999, effective November 29, 1999, eliminates the requirement of PRO prior approval of a CAH acute care stay prior to the expiration of the 96-hour.
