The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has contracted with IPRO to serve as the Quality Improvement Organization (QIO) for New York State and to collaborate with the nursing home industry on the implementation of the Nursing Home Quality Initiative (NHQI). Our goal is two-fold: to work with the nursing home industry on community-based, quality improvement activities; and to collaborate with you, other industry stakeholders and state government agencies to make nursing home quality measures available to consumers, empowering them to make informed nursing home decisions.

In an effort to provide information regarding the Nursing Home Quality Initiative, IPRO will be conducting educational meetings throughout New York State for the nursing home provider community. These meetings will include representatives from Greater New York Hospital Association, Healthcare Association of New York State, IPRO, New York Health Facilities Association, New York Association of Homes & Services for the Aging, New York State Ombudsman and the NYS DOH Division of Nursing Home Quality Assurance & Surveillance.

We strongly encourage you and/or your staff to attend one of the regional meetings to afford you the opportunity to learn more about the initiative and the implementation strategies planned for New York State. The meeting dates and locations are indicated on the attachment.
