As you may already be aware, effective Monday, July 2, 2007, a new appeals process is being implemented in accordance with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) final rule, CMS-4105-F: Notification of Hospital Discharge Appeal Rights published on November 27, 2006. The purpose of this memorandum is to provide you with information about four (4) upcoming "webinars" that will be hosted by IPRO in regard to the Medicare discharge appeals process that begins July 2, 2007. These interactive sessions will focus on IPRO's role in the appeal process as well as the hospital's responsibilities when an appeal is requested.

The "webinars" (i.e., via conference call and the Internet) in regard to this new process will be held during the last two weeks of June and are scheduled as follows:

Dates/ Times

June 19th - 1 PM to 2 PM

June 26th - 9 AM to 10 AM

June 27th - 9 AM to 10 AM

June 27th - 3 PM to 4 PM

Hospital participation on these calls is voluntary, however due to the number of available phone lines (maximum 200 lines per call), attendance is by registration only. (Please refer to the enclosed registration instructions).
