SUBJECT: IPRO GRAND ROUNDS - QUALITY IMPROVEMENT PLANS FROM BENEFICIARY-IDENTIFIED QUALITY OF CARE CONCERNS
IPRO CONTACTS:
Monty Bodenheimer, M.D., FACC, Medical Director or Elizabeth S. Hall, Esq., RN, Director, Medicare Beneficiary Complaint Review Program at 516-326-7767, extension 364.
IPRO is pleased to invite all New York State hospitals to participate in a new statewide initiative via conference call on Wednesday, March 22, 2006 from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. The purpose of this initiative, entitled "IPRO Grand Rounds", is to demonstrate, using actual case examples, how physicians/hospitals can utilize the results of IPRO's Medicare beneficiary complaint reviews to improve the quality of patient care. Dr. Monty Bodenheimer, IPRO's Medical Director, will share de-identified, beneficiary complaints with upheld quality of care concerns as the basis for an interactive group discussion. The discussion will include a description of the issues raised by the beneficiary in their complaint as well as the subsequent quality concern(s) confirmed by the IPRO review. To promote sharing and spread of "best practices", particular attention will be paid to the quality improvement plan (QIP) developed and implemented by the practitioner and/or provider in response to the confirmed quality of care concern(s).
A power point presentation will be provided along with a question and answer session that will follow the presentation. Our long term program goal is to provide an interactive forum (on a ongoing basis) whereby providers and practitioners can share and learn how others have utilized quality of care concerns identified through the Medicare beneficiary complaint review program as catalysts for improvement in the quality of patient care.
To Join IPRO Grand Rounds:Hospital participants will need access to both the Internet and a phone line. Detailed registration instructions for this training are provided as an Attachment to this Memorandum. Hospitals must register to participate in this training. Registration is available at https://ifmcevents.webex.com. We request your assistance in keeping slots open for all hospitals wishing to participate by encouraging staff within your facility to share the computer/phone line used. For those unable to participate, IPRO will make an on-line recording of the training available at http://jeny.ipro.org.
Should you have any questions or comments about this memorandum and/or IPRO Grand Rounds, please contact Monty Bodenheimer, M.D., FACC, Medical Director or Elizabeth S. Hall, Esq., RN, Director Medicare Beneficiary Complaint Review Program at 516-326-7767, extension 364.
