IPRO is pleased to provide you with a general introduction video regarding the Payment Error Prevention Program (PEPP). Please share it with the appropriate parties at your acute care facility. The intent of the video is to educate administrative and medical staff, compliance officers, as well as other parties that may be affected by PEPP.

For your information, in June 1999, the Health Care Financing Administration (HCFA) awarded the national Payment Error Prevention Support Peer Review Organization (PEPSPRO) contract for the Sixth Scope of Work (6th SOW) to the Texas Medical Foundation (TMF). The PEPSPRO will support both HCFA and the Peer Review Organizations (PROs) in meeting 6th SOW objectives related to reducing the occurrence of payment errors for inpatient prospective payment system (PPS) services provided to Medicare beneficiaries.

The PEPSPRO role is to facilitate and coordinate with each PRO?s payment error prevention activities to achieve measurable reduction in the payment error rate for Medicare inpatient PPS services. The PEPSPRO, as part of its contract with HCFA, has prepared a general introduction video regarding the PEPP program.
